Cycling Club has a 'wheelie' great night as awards handed out

It was a night of celebration recently for Swords Cycling Club who held their annual awards night in the town.

The McNally Swords Cycling Club Awards Night took place at the Carnegie Court Hotel in Swords and honoured some of the club's finest cyclists.

The winners of the 2018 Touring League and the Joe McNally Racing League were presented with their prizes.

McNally Swords Cycling Club has over 250 members from all over the Fingal area.

The club welcomes new members for both their racing and touring groups.

This club has been in operation for over 30 years and continues to go from strength to strength each year with members taking part in national and international events.

There are a number of organised spins that take place every Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, which cater for different levels of ability.

The Joe McNally Racing A League winner on the night was Ciaran Handley who edged out Mark McCourt in second and Derek Humphries in third.

The B League was won by Paul Smith with Jason O'Toole in second and Brendan Furey in third while first in the women's section went to Laura Banfield with a veteran prize for David Hickey and a youth first going to Cian Smart.

Winner of the 16k Time Trial was Ross Collins who also took first prize for the 40k Time Trial with Laura Banfield the first woman home in both races.

The Humphries Touring League was won by Pat Murphy while the women's league was won by Evelyn Doyle (pictured above, receiving her award from Swords Cycling Club President, Terry Quinlan.

Huge congratulations goes to all the winners on the night.

The club continues to grow all the time and has a bright future ahead.
