A SWORDS native is carving out a successful life as an entrepreneur after embarking on a new career following over a decade working in the corporate world.

Clionadh Lynders Twomey, originally from the Fingal capital but now living in Skerries, has won Best Wedding Industry Newcomer at the third annual weddingsonline.ie awards, and was presented with her award at the Crowne Plaza, Northwood Santry. This year, the entrepreneur and owner of The Sweet Treat Co, Clionadh has had her metaphorical big day – her business has been voted the Best Newcomer in the 2012 Weddingsonline.ie Awards. The annual awards recognise and reward high quality suppliers in the bridal industry, as voted by that notoriously hard-to-please consumer: brides. Having been voted by the public nationwide and judged by an expert panel, this is the first time such a supplier has been announced as a winner. Established by Clionadh in late 2010, The Sweet Treat Co has risen as one of the most sought-after wedding suppliers of the year. Having spent 15 years working in the corporate world, Clionadh decided it was time to take a fresh look at her skills, lifestyle and passion. Her artistic flair and her sense of style lent herself well suited to both the glamour of the wedding industry and the move to a more creative career. According to Weddings Online, the winners' success is due to the quality of work and the delivery of a real wedding experience. The Sweet Treat Co designs and creates every candy buffet with the location, theme and audience in mind. 'We're always being innovative with our candy buffets, to make them as special as they can be and unique for each and every bride and groom,' said Clionadh. 'We put style at the heart of all our candy buffets - big and small – so we're delighted to have received this prestigious recognition.' This award rounds out an excellent year for the industry newcomer, who has attended to some of the country's most notable weddings and most recognised newly-married couples such as Brian Ormonde and Pippa O'connor, Martin King and Jenny Mccarthy. And it's not only weddings that Clionadh puts her passion to. She has also been known to add colour and style to such recent corporate events as Littlewoods Ireland Spring/summer 2012 press preview, the Big Picnic for Barretstown at Powerscourt Ritz Carlton, The Restaurant Show Celebrity Charity Dinner at The Wineport Lodge and Drogheda's SOSAD fashion event. 'You don't have to love sweets to love our candy buffet displays,' Clionadh said. ' Some love the idea of a display from The Sweet Treat Co just to create a talking point, to add a little something quirky & different or as a social gathering spot at their special event' Clionadh is even more enthused by the year ahead and already has some new and exciting innovations in store. She has also been nominated for The Most Unique Wedding Supplier Award in this year's forthcoming Realweddings.ie Wedding Oscar's Awards.
