Fingal's Howth Head is a gem and is now featured in the Lonely Planet 'Epic Runs of the World' guide for 2019, a travel guide listing 50 of the world's greatest running routes.

The North Dublin trail is joining a distinguished list such as the North Pole, the Amalfi coast and the Great Wall of China.

This scenic trail in Dublin is also centre stage for the upcoming Gaelforce 10k Howth Summit Trail Run, on October 19th 2019. In its third year running this event is showing off all the beauty Howth Head has to offer plus a new challenge for people.

Gaelforce 10k Howth Summit, in partnership with John West, is the perfect introduction race for runners into trail running. From its first year running this event has been a sell-out. Currently the six out of eight waves are already sold out.

This event marks the third and final event in the Gaelforce 10k Trilogy, seeing hundreds of people completing their tri-part medal to form one big medal and to celebrate their achievement through 2019.

Newbie runners, road runners or adamant trail runners alike love this trail run as it offers the most stunning views over Dublin, which also helps to take the mind of any physical struggle. Overall the terrain is very varied from small section of road, to grass, hills and paths. Walkers are also welcome to join in one of the later waves and take in the sights and atmosphere.

Spectators are more than welcome to support friends and family along the route. The main areas for spectating are Howth Castle, Deer Park Golf Club, Howth Hill Summit.

Shane Young from Killary Gaelforce, says: 'Trail running is for everyone, and the bug is catching and that is one of the reason we introduced the Gaelforce 10k Trilogy in 2019. These races offer something for everyone and are done at your own pace but the utter sense of achievement is huge, this is more than just another run… Try it and beware you might just get hooked.'

Gaelforce has teamed up with Jigsaw, the National Centre for Youth Mental Health as their charity partner this year. As part of the partnership participants can donate when registering for the event or become an Everyday Jigsaw Hero and raise vital funds for the charity.
