'Team Invictus' quiz draws huge support for a fantastic cause
Team Invictus will embark on the iconic cycling event that is the Race Around Ireland in August and have got their fundraising efforts for their chosen charity, LauraLynn off to a great start with a table quiz in Rolestown that raised over €4,300.
The team is made up of the family, friends and Coastguard colleagues of Ciaran Smith, the winchman on Rescue Helicopter 116, lost at sea last year off the Mayo Coast.
Ciaran had a close association with the Race Around Ireland and completed the event solo and Team Invictus who will take on the team challenge in the race see the effort as honouring Ciaran's memory and keeping his legacy alive.
With all that in mind, their major fundraiser prior to the race gained massive support with 36 teams registering for the quiz, with 31 of those coming from the local area where Ciaran and his family are well known and highly regarded.
The quiz combined with a raffle and auction for some fantastic items raised an impressive €4,335 on the night, according to a member of the Team Invictus support crew, Ann Fox.
Team Invictus would like to thank everyone who supported the event which was held at Kettle's Country House Hotel and everyone who helped stage the event and make it such a success.
While the successful fundraiser is a great start, Team Invictus are still searching for corporate sponsorship and any business out there who would like to support this great cause can contact firstname.lastname@example.org
