THE date is edging closer for one of the most ambitious fundraising events ever undertaken by St Maur's GAA Club in Rush.

The long-established club is holding a Strictly St Maur's dance event on Saturday, October 12 at the home of GAA, Croke Park itself.

Some 26 dancers from all age groups will compete against each other and the pairings for the glitzy night have now been revealed. In the region of 1,200 people are expected to attend the event, which will also be streamed live on the web. A pre=show video of all the dancers will also be shown on the big screen.

In the meantime the dancers are busy preparing for the night, which will feature online voting, the professional judging panel, as well as audience voting.

The Rush club currently has seven senior teams and over 25 juvenile teams, featuring over 800 children a week.

Previous fundraising efforts have helped to upgrade the facilities around the club, including the replacement of the old asbestos roof and the construction of a ball wall.

Anybody who wishes to contribute sponsorship to the night should contact Derek Farren at 086 847 4499.

Tickets are also available from the club.
