Second Fingal Festival of History coming this month
National Heritage Week may have come and gone but Fingal is not done celebrating its history.
Later this month, sees the return of the second annual Fingal Festival of History which will see a week full of talks on various aspects of the history of Fingal, hosted by Fingal Libraries.
The second running of the festival will take place from September 22 to September 29 with a huge programme of events in various venues around the county, including all of Fingal's network of local libraries.
This year's programme of events features a special centrepiece event at Swords Castle.
The event on Saturday, September 29 will see a full day of talks around the topic of life in Ireland and Fingal, 100 years ago.
The event will held at Swords Castle and no dount some of the history of the castle itself will be explored in the talks.
The event is entitled 'History at the Castle - Ireland 100 Years Ago'. The castle is a fitting venue for this special event, as a national monument and growing cultural attraction in Swords, thanks to it being brought back to life in recent years by Fingal County Council.
The wider programme for the festival which will be announced soon will take place across the county's network of fantastic local libraries where the county's heritage will be brought to life.
