O'Dwyer's GAA Culture Group enjoy Christmas dinner and dancing
Christmas spirit and Christmas spirits were flowing recently at O'Dwyer's Culture Group Christmas dinner party in Balbriggan, which saw all the group's set dancers dance into the early hours.
The annual event, held on Friday December 7, and running 'since the late seventies', included music by 'Stage 2' and a 'delicious' turkey and ham dinner, kindly provided by Damien Reilly of the Milestone Inn, Balbriggan.
A festive Freda Smith, Chairperson of the culture group said: 'It was a great success, the music was great and the food was excellent.
'Everyone was up dancing and we danced a set or two.
'We had a raffle as well and people brought spot prizes.
'Any money left over went towards the club.'
Freda added: 'Niamh O'Donnell was there, whose mother was one of the founders of the group, so it was great to have her there.'
Freda says the culture group runs a set dancing class every Monday from 8.15pm to 10pm, from September through to the end of May, which has 'about 24 members.'
The group also runs fiddle classes, mainly for children, on Monday afternoons, and Freda is hoping the group will be able to include more instruments in the future.
The culture group is holding a New Years Eve party this year, with tickets available at the door.
It will be a set dancing night once more with 'Stage 2', but for those not up to scratch, Freda says after a drink or two, nobody will notice.
