Local Art School preparing for big Valentine's event

For each of the past seventeen years the talented students of the Catherine Lawlor School of Art have been holding an Art Exhibition to raise funds to support local charities in the Dublin area.

In February 2020, in a new and exciting departure, Catherine is delighted to be hosting the inaugural Catherine Lawlor School of Art Valentine's Ball & Art Exhibition in association with The Marie Keating Foundation. The Marie Keating Foundation receives only a small amount of government funding and all of their services are provided free of charge so sponsorship and fundraising are very important to them.  So, what does the Marie Keating Foundation do?

It has mobile information units which travel around Ireland to spread the message about cancer prevention and early detection.

It provides financial assistance to people receiving treatment for any kind of cancer and who, as a result, are in financial difficulty.

It runs free survivorship courses nationwide for men and women who have been treated for any type of cancer.

It runs free monthly positive living meetings for people living with advanced cancer.

It runs a free programme for secondary school students covering cancer prevention and early detection of the most common cancers in Ireland including how to cope if someone close to you is diagnosed with the disease.

This unique Valentine's Ball & Art Exhibition will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2020 in the Ballsbridge Hotel, Pembroke Road, Dublin 4.

This promises to be a most exciting and entertaining event. It will include a reception, an exhibition of a wonderful selection of over 160 pieces of art work, dinner, grand auction, raffle and spot prizes along with entertainment.

The MC for the night will be Shay Byrne from RTE. Some of the student's artwork, in addition to some other artwork donated by professional Irish artists, will be auctioned at the Catherine Lawlor School of Art / Marie Keating Foundation Valentine's Ball during the ball.

Notable artists attending will include Kathrine Geoghegan, Ronan Goti, John Nolan and Robert Shaw.

Catherine is also arranging for two other exhibition related events in the Ballsbridge Hotel as part of this busy and exciting weekend.

These events will present the event sponsors, local businesses and the general public with an opportunity to view the Art Exhibition.
