Great films will sit side-by-side with the best in comedy and music this weekend in the newly expanded Fingal Film and Arts Festival which kicks off on Friday night at Swords Castle.

The festival moves outside this year in the spectacular surroundings of the castle which will host a huge variety of film and arts events over the weekend.

Swords Castle is being converted into an outdoor cinema for the event but will also host comedy gigs and music from the likes of Paddy Casey and the Hot Sprockets.

Fingal Film Festival will have the best line up of comedy, live music and Independent film while all your hospitality needs will be catered for by the team at the Wright Venue full bar license and food vendors available for the whole weekend open from 11am till late every day.

Launching the festival on Friday, courtesy of High Flyers Distribution UK, will be the Irish Premiere Feature Film 'Knights of the Damned', from the Producers of Games of Thrones with special effects by the team who created Harry Potter.

Live music will feature throughout the whole weekend with Paddy Casey taking to the stage on Saturday night and there will be live comedy from Giz a Laugh & Rory's Stories.

Casting and acting workshops will be held for adults and young people with guest speaker, Eva Jane Gaffeney from Louise Kiely Casting.

The festival also has a Foley design workshop from Jean Mc Grath and Coaimhe Doyle from Ardmore Sound and Screen Scene plus children's animation workshops with guest speaker, Darren Murrey from Brown Bag Films.

These events will feature all over the weekend alongside the screening of independent films from Fingal and all over the world. Sunday will focus on a Family Fun day with 'Morning Glorville' - a unique and fun yoga rave for everyone. That will be followed by more screenings and live music, drawing the festival to a close.

The main Sponsor of this year's event is Fingal County Council and will see Fingal Film Festival being cemented into the annual calendar for the whole county, as this event will have something for all ages and interests.
