Fifty extra camping spots for Wonderfest

ORGANISERS of WonderFest, the music and entertainment festival taking place at Malahide Castle, have announced that more than 50 families are already confirmed to camp in the castle grounds for the two-day event.

The demand for an authentic festival camping experience has been so great that extra glamping options in pitched bell tents have also been added.

WonderFest takes place over the weekend of August 16 and 17. Day tickets and camping pitches must be booked in advance on and are selling out quickly.

The festival features a full programme of events and activities from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily for children of all ages.

The schedule includes high quality children's theatre, non-stop circus and workshops, funny science shows, dance classes, magic, interactive animal displays, live music from top bands and much more.

The music line-up for the weekend features top Irish entertainers Knights of Leon, Spring Break, The Seducers, Renovator, Soupl Purpose, Retrospect Quartet, House Party, Panic Animal, Cian and Drisco.

The reptile village conservation zoo will introduce visitors to the wonders of reptiles and will host talks, displays and a handling area to allow kids to learn all about these amazing creatures.

Astronomy Ireland will be setting up four high powered telescopes for WonderFesters to gaze at the summer stars and will give workshops on the latest news from Mars!

Fingal Sailing School are offering all ticket holders the opportunity to book an sailing or water-sports experience over the weekend

WonderFest is also delighted to be partnering with the wonderful Make-A-Wish Foundation, who will have a presence at the event over the weekend

The WonderFest environment is created exclusively for family time together, learning, enjoying great performances and bonding through laughter and fun.

The festival is non-alcoholic, with alcohol consumption strictly limited to the 'Parent's Tea-Party' area.

Organisers advise using public transport, as the Dart and Dublin Bus stop directly outside the entrance to the festival grounds.

To give families visiting Malahide the best possible experience over the WonderFest weekend, a Food Trail and Shopping Trail are being developed, allowing families to make the most of the seaside village. Bicycles will be available to hire, and there will be free rickshaws going back and forth constantly from the entrance of WonderFest to the heart of Malahide village.
