Clash of the Acts!

Nicola Donnelly

SWORDS Clash of the Acts is a new music talent show seeking out the next big act on the music scene.

The talent competition, which will run for a number of weeks, with the grand final taking place before Christmas, is being organised by Swords Baldoyle Youth Services.

According to Danny McElhinney, Assistant Youth Worker with Swords Baldoyle Youth Services, the competition is open to all genre of musicians from solo artists, duos and group acts aged between 15 and 25 years.

'The competition is open to all sorts of musical acts, regardless of their level of experience and whether they play original material or cover versions is up to them,' Danny told the Fingal Independent.

'We will have a panel of three judges for each of the heats and with the reaction the acts get from the audience will also help with the judges' decisions as to who goes through to the final.'

'For all we know the next Kodaline may be holed up in a practise room, bedroom or garage in the Swords area,' he added.

The competition will get underway on November 22nd at 7pm with acts performing in Swords Youth Cafe but the closing date for entries is Friday, November 15th.

Heats will take place fortnightly with a cash prize for the overall winner at the Grand Final which takes place before Christmas.

Entry forms for the competition are available from the Swords Youth Cafe, which is located behind Bank of Ireland and completed entry forms must be received back at the Youth Cafe no later than 5pm on Friday, November 15th.
