Following last year's hugely successful event, the high-octane Cannonball 2019 screeches into Malahide next month, bringing with it the rumble of sports car engines and first-class entertainment.

The free event returns to Malahide for the second year in a row on Friday September 6, and this year promises an even greater amount of torque.

There was an electric atmosphere at Malahide Castle last year, when thousands flocked to the iconic venue to welcome the largest road trip in Europe and 190 of the finest cars on the planet.

The cars will start to arrive on the evening of Thursday September 5 before departing at 10.30am on Friday September 6 to make a blazing trail through Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Mayo, Sligo, Meath and Offaly.

Over 200,000 people will line the streets all over Ireland for Cannonball, with the event having already raised a total of €1,016,000 for Irish charities.

Fans will get the opportunity to meet all the drivers and celebrities, and get up close and personal with the world's top-mark cars such as McLaren, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Porsche, Maserati, Rolls Royce and Bentley.

Spectators will enjoy the unique festival atmosphere that Cannonball is renowned for, with the Brazilian dancers, fire breathers, street entertainers, live music and free giveaways getting the party started, and the largest screen in Ireland showing footage of the spectacular event.

Adding to the melee will be the notorious NYPD, German Polizei, Fr Willie and colourful Cannonballers in crazy costumes.

Very special guests include Spiderman, Star Wars, Cat Woman, Wonder Woman, Cheerleaders, Charlie's Angels, Batman, The Joker and more, in a completely unique and free family day out.

This year, the charity benefactor is the Irish Cancer Society, which carries out lifesaving cancer research and a offers a range of free support services for people affected by cancer.
