Members of the acclaimed Black Raven Pipe Band are pinching themselves after they had privilege of performing at the two recent Andre Rieu concerts in the 3 Arena.

Rieu is a world famous violinist and along with his Johann Strauss orchestra, they have travelled all over the world during the last thirty years, popularising classical music.

The standard of musicianship at Andre's shows is exceptional, and his shows are highly entertaining. He is probably most famous for performing the Blue Danube, which is the quintessential music for waltzing.

He has toured Ireland consecutively for the last eight years and often includes the bag pipes in his repertoire.

The Black Raven Pipe Band were asked to perform Scotland the Brave, Highland Cathedral and Amazing Grace, which were all very appropriate tunes for this time of year.

The band were also asked to march among the audience before walking on stage to join the orchestra, which made for a very dramatic entrance.

It was a dream come true for the senior members of the band to perform with such an iconic musician and for the younger members of the band, Callum and Tristan Piner, it was a thrill not only to meet Andre, but also to perform at such an huge venue.

Andre and his crew couldn't have been more welcoming and generous with their time, and they even invited us to the after show party!

The Black Raven Pipe Band has a school of drumming and piping, and they are always delighted to have new members join the band.

All tuition, instruments and uniforms are provided for new members. Please contact us if you are interested in the joining our pipe band, everyone is welcome.
