Artist Jean to feature on TV3's Showhouse
Local artist Jean Lowndes is set for TV stardom after being chosen to take part in a new show.
Palette knife artist Jean will be working with Annemarie Hamill of Hamilton Interiors on an episode of TV'3s Showhouse on November 10.
Annemarie's design was inspired by Jean's painting entitled 'Winter's Soft Whisper' and it runs as a common theme throughout her design. Jean said she is 'hugely honoured by this compliment'. 'I love Annmarie's work. She is a fabulous person, hugely talented and so lovely.'
Jean took up paiting after a fall and three subsequent back surgeries. The Swords native, who grew up on a farm, is celebrating her 21st year of painting in 2017. She exhibits regularly at RDS Artsource, RDS House, Merrion Square and St Stephen's Green 'The People's Art'.
She said: 'Taking up painting was the best decision of my life. The pure joy of painting has been amazing. I an inspired by nature and so my love affair with trees began. 'I meet and continue to meet the most amazing people, artists and buyers, making new friends through art.'
Jean works mainly with oil palette knife in her studio in her home. She loves the impasto technique that creates mood and atmosphere. She added: 'The best compliment to pay an artist is to buy their work. Even admiring their work is such an encouragement to continue the pursuit. By chatting and even admiring the work is such a positive for me. It's what it is all about.' For further information about Jean, visit her website at jeanlowndesart.ie.
