THERE WAS a double Wexford involvement on the Napier University (Edinburgh) hurling team which defeated G.M.I.T. (Letterfrack) in the final of the Fergal Maher Cup on a scoreline of 3-8 to 1-10. The game was played at Cork I.T. and was the first on the card of the Fitzgibbon Cup finals weekend which ended in a cracker between W.I.T. and L.I.T.

THERE WAS a double Wexford involvement on the Napier University (Edinburgh) hurling team which defeated G.M.I.T. (Letterfrack) in the final of the Fergal Maher Cup on a scoreline of 3-8 to 1-10.

The game was played at Cork I.T. and was the first on the card of the Fitzgibbon Cup finals weekend which ended in a cracker between W.I.T. and L.I.T.

Wexford were represented on the Napier team by Michael Kinsella of St. Mary's (Rosslare) who gave a great display at full-back, and Davy Kehoe from Crossabeg-Ballymurn who was forced off early in the game due to injury.

Darragh Butler from Buffers Alley lined out at corner-forward for G.M.I.T. (Letterrfrack) and scored a goal in the second-half, but it wasn't enough to claw back the men from Scotland.

Tuskar Rock Marine from Rosslare Harbour were the main sponsors to Napier University for the Fitzgibbon weekend, and they were represented at the finals by proprietor David Kinsella and Mick Devlin.

While there was no Wexford player in action for W.I.T. in their thrilling 1-29 to 1-24 Fitzgibbon Cup final win over L.I.T. after two periods of extra-time, three Slaneysiders were on the bench - Colm Gahan of Buffers Alley and freshers Joe Kelly (Shelmaliers) and James Gahan (Ballygarrett).
