Hurlers off to Orlando
Wexford to spend time in Florida after Big Apple action
It has been revealed that the Wexford hurlers will be spending some time in Orlando after playing in next month's Fenway Classic for the second year running.
As the club championship reaches its concluding stages, many of our inter-county players are taking time out, before they begin planning for the new season.
Just to get preparations up and running for 2020, Wexford have the small matter of the Fenway Classic in New York on November 16, where they will compete in this less than colourful tournament along with All-Ireland champions Tipperary, Limerick and Kilkenny.
However, Davy Fitzgerald's squad will prolong their stay across the Atlantic by moving on to Orlando for seven days following the hurling, after which the squad will return to preparations for the 2020 league and championship.
Already the players have set out on fundraising activities to finance their holiday venture.
A DVD outlining a behind-the-scenes look at the preparations of the team is on the way, while a corporate dinner is also being organised, with the presentation of Leinster medals taking place on the night.
The squad have upped their funding activities with the availability of the official Leinster final photograph which is about to go on sale.
Manager Davy Fitzgerald has lauded the fundraising activities of the squad.
'The players have undertaken the fundraising activities to cover their holiday abroad. They deserve this for their efforts in the league and championship,' he said.
