Members of Enniscorthy gardai and other emergency service personnel gathered at the town's Garda Station on Sunday to remember Detective Colm Horkan, who was shot and killed while on duty in Castlerea, Co Roscommon, on Wednesday.

At 12 noon the garda members and other people in attendance, including members of the public, stood to attention outside the station and observed a minutes silence in memory of Det Horkan.

The gardai expressed gratitude to the local community for the support they received in the wake of Det Horkan's death which shocked the entire nation.

A book of condolence was also opened in Enniscorthy Garda Station to give local people the opportunity to pay their respects to Det Gda Horkan.
