'Wheely' good fun at The Ballagh family fun day and vintage run
There was great community spirit on show in The Ballagh recently during a fundraising family field day and vintage run.
One of the organisers, Joanne Dunne, said they were delighted with how the event went.
'It went brilliantly for us. We were raising money for three local children, two of whom have Cerebral Palsy and one of whom has Cystic Fibrosis. We wanted to come together as a community to raise money for the children.
'Last year we held a bike run to gauge interest and this year we wanted to ensure it was a day for all the family so we incorporated a family fun day and then later on we had music and entertainment in Bob's Bar.
'We had over 60 vintage bikes taking part in the vintage run. There were bikes from all eras and all makes. The family fun day was held in the field owned by Robert and Paula Dunne. During the day we had sumo wresting suits, intercounty pub tug of war, face painting, bouncy castles and a barbecue.
'There was a great turn out for all events and we were delighted with the support we received from the local community and further afield.'
Joanne said that the organisers are still collecting sponsorship money so they are not sure of the figure raised at the moment. She said that a cheque presentation will be organised in the coming weeks.
