Wexford Drama Group presenting 'The Field'
Wexford Drama Group (WDG) will take to the stage in the National Opera House in August with a production of 'The Field' by John B. Keane. The play is renowned as being one of the great classics of Irish theatre.
Based on the murder of Moss Moore in Kerry in 1958, the play tells the story of a farmer's love for the land he rents and the lengths he is prepared to go to establish his claim on it.
It's the first time staging 'The Field' for the group who are delighted to welcome All Ireland winning director and actor Andy Doyle as director of the production.
'The Field' features some of the best known characters in Irish literature including the Bull McCabe, a role played in the WDG production by Eugene McLoughlin.
The play will be presented from August 1 to 3 and August 8 to 10 at 8 p.m. each night.

Murphy, Tom O Donoghue; Dandy, Tony Brennan; Mrs. McCabe, Susan Anderson; The Bishop, Bryan Hynes.
Wexford Drama Group's season launch will take place on Friday July 26 in T. Morris pub at 9 p.m.
The launch will be performed by Beat 102/103 presenter Shonagh Lyons. The MC will be group stalward Phil Lyons.
