St Aidan's Cathedral reverberated to the sound of a fantastic choral performance last week when it provided the venue for the annual Silvertones concert which was organised to raise money for the Hope Centre in Enniscorthy.

Under the direction of Eithne Corrigan the choral group performed a brilliant programme of hymns and songs.

The variety concert attracted a capacity crowd to the venue and there were some brilliant moments throughout.

Siobhan Whelan, on cello, had the audience enthralled while Cllr George Lawlor took time out from his political duties to showcase his formidable talent as a vocalist.

Columnist with this newspaper, David Medcalf, acted as MC on the day and did so with his usual high level of professionalism.

Among the other performers at the event were: Fintan Cleary (keyboard); Colette Cleary (bass); Ann Wickham (flute); Lorna Mahon (soprano); and Mollie Carroll (harp).

The organisers of the concert were delighted with the turnout and they thanked everyone involved in making it a success and a great night out for the audience.
