The life of a true icon of country music was celebrated at The Riverside Park Hotel last week as Al Grant brought his show 'Welcome to My World: The Life and Music of Jim Reeves' to an Enniscorthy stage.

The show had gained great reviews all over the country in the past and the country fans of Enniscorthy were not disappointed by this wonderful and faithful recreation of some of Reeves' greatest hits. A bona_fide legend of the genre, Reeves was famed for his legendary 'Nashville sound' and it was something that was expertly recreated on the night by Grant and his fantastic band of some of Ireland's finest country musicians, along with his wife Isla.

Somewhat of a legend in his own right, Al Grant is a huge fan of Reeves' work and performs his songs with a striking similarity. The show featured a range of Reeves' best loved tunes, cut with narration and video screen footage from his life from his birth in Galloway, Texas, to his untimely death in a plane crash in Tennessee aged forty.

The show proved a hit with those in attendance and no doubt they will be counting down the days until Al and Isla return to Slaneyside.
