Bernie celebrates 60th
There was one hell of a party in the Rafter Suite of The Riverside Park Hotel recently as friends and family of Bernie Millar of Moran Park gathered to help her mark a milestone age as she turned 60. A huge crowd turned up on the night including Bernie's children Joanne, Mandy and Joseph and their partners, her six grandchildren, her father Mick Quigley and aunts Lizzy, Kitty and Mary. Her sisters also travelled from Canada and England to be there on the night and what a night it was!
'We started out with a small list and in the end there was nearly 200 there; it was brilliant!' Bernie said. 'We had a disco with our own play-lists going with all the music from the 70s and I had a great time with all my old school friends. It was like being a teenager again!'
It wasn't just the adults that had all the fun either! Bernie's grandchildren had their own special play-list of songs that they sing in the car with their Nanny on the night!
While there was plenty of fun and games on the night, a fresh head was required for Bernie, as a couple of days later she set off on a cycling trip around France with the Slaney Cycling Club. Over there, she celebrated her 60 years in the saddle taking in the beautiful French countryside over nearly five days.
Bernie had a ball on the night and thanked everyone for making the occasion so special, particularly the hotel staff for their excellent service and those who had travelled long distances to take part in the celebrations.
