A full house and plenty of craic at The 2 Johnnies
It's a long, long way to Tipperary or so they say, but comedy duo The 2 Johnnies made the journey all the way to Oylegate Community Centre recently for a sell-out show to raise funds for Oylegate-Glenbrien camogie club. The pair took to the stage in front of nearly 300 people and had them in fits of laughter as they performed a series of sketches, songs and games, one of the most popular being a polished impression of TD Mick Wallace.
'It was a brilliant night,' said Chairperson of Oylegate-Glenbrien Camogie Margaret O'Connor. 'We had a full house and they were great craic. They're lovely lads and it was one of the easiest fundraisers we've done. They're names were mentioned at a meeting one night and they agreed to do it straight away. We're hoping we've raised a substantial amount of money which will go towards the day to day running of the club.'
The YouTube sensations weren't afraid to get the crowd involved on the night either as they hosted games of 'Mr and Mrs' and 'Blind Date' where a few strapping lads from the audience competed for a date with one of the camogie players. All in all it was a great night and the organisers are hopeful that it has raised in excess of €2,500 for the club. They thanked everyone who came along and The 2 Johnnies for being such great craic. No doubt they'll be welcomed back to Wexford with open arms any time.
