Varied programme for special concert in aid of Cystic Fibrosis
The beautiful surroundings of The Presentation Centre were filled with the sound of music for a great cause recently as a special concert took place in aid of the Wexford Branch of Cystic Fibrosis Ireland. A host of talented local artists gave up their time to contribute to the Culture Night concert, which was the brainchild of Joe Doyle.
Among those who took to the stage over the course of a jam-packed night were, Jamie Murphy and Kerry Morrissey, Shauna Heaver, first time performer Shannon O'Leary, Alice Medcalf, country sensation Stacy Breen, mezzo sopranos Niamh Crowhurst and Aisling Williams and Aideen Ní Riada. Franko Doyle also performed a number of his own songs and paid tribute to his late wife who passed away from CF.
Joe was delighted with how the evening went and is hopeful that the evening will have raised somewhere in the region of €600 for the cause.
'It was a great success,' said Joe. 'There was a great atmosphere on the night and the artists were very good. We're already looking at hosting part two next year! I'd like to thank all of the acts who performed on the night and wish them the very best for the future. Hopefully we'll see some of them again next year along with a few new faces.'
Joe also wished to thank the staff at The Presentation Centre, all those who sponsored raffle prizes, Thomas Byrne who provided the sound on the night and anyone who helped out in any way. He also said he was delighted to be able to help such a wonderful cause.
'The hard work that the Wexford branch do for people with CF is amazing,' he said. 'That stretches right up to the lads up in the head office as well. They're all brilliant.' While the final amounts are still being tallied, Joe is looking forward to handing the money over to this worthy cause soon.
