Nine Traveller community health workers were presented with certificates in 'Cardiac First Response Community' in Enniscorthy last week.

The certificates were presented in Wexford Local Development's (WLD) office in Enniscorthy.

The health workers completed a training course with Paddy Redmond from the Irish Red Cross.

The Traveller Community Health Programme, which is managed by WLD, is composed of nine Traveller Community Health Workers.

A spokesperson for WLD told this newspaper: 'They offer many services to the Traveller community including women's and youth programmes throughout the county, health information, healthy cooking and nutrition, positive mental health supports and help with literacy.'

The programme can be contacted through 053 9155875 or in person by calling into the WLD office in the IFA Centre, Enniscorthy.
