The people of Enniscorthy showed their caring nature in exemplary fashion last week when they gave great support to a local fundraising event for Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

The tea morning event was held at Pettitt's SuperValu and speaking to this newspaper store manager, Rosaleen Casey, said it was a great success.

'We were really thrilled with the response and the generosity of our customers and staff,' she said.

Although the event only took place for a couple of hours in the morning it raised €840 for MND.

'The money will be put straight back into support services in Wexford which is great,' said Rosaleen.

Throughout the country SuperValu encouraged store operators to support the campaign and the management and staff in Enniscorthy were delighted to get behind the initiative.

'We've had coffee morning events before but we've never had a tea morning so we were really delighted with its success,' said Rosaleen.

Former employee, Rita Doyle, who is involved with MND, manned the tea stand for the event and was also delighted to do so.

'It's an important fundraiser for the staff because it's something that affects a lot of people,' said Rosaleen.

'We would like to thank everyone who supported it and helped make it a great success.'
