Sunflowers shine light on charity

The charitable nature of a group of people in Oylegate was highlighted in exemplary fashion recently when they presented a cheque to Wexford Hospice.

The Oylegate Sunflowers held a coffee morning event which proved to be a resounding success raising €5,060 for the cancer support organisation.

Speaking to this newspaper about the fundraiser, Maudie Maher, who is one of the group members said everyone was delighted with the success of the event.

'We were delighted with the success of the coffee morning,' she said.

Ms Maher expressed gratitude to everyone in the community who supported the event and she also thanked people for their generosity and cooperation.

The Oylegate Sunflowers is composed of: Maudie Maher; Evelyn Kinsella; Maura O'Leary; Lar Kinsella and Patricia Edwards.

Eamonn Mernagh accepted the cheque on behalf of Wexford Hospice Homecare and thanked everyone involved for their help.

He also said the money will be put to very good use within the community.
