Seniors take to the dancefloor
THE ANNUAL Gorey Senior Citizens Christmas Party in The Amber Springs Hotel last week got everyone into the festive spirit.
This was the fourth Christmas party organised by a local committee including members of the local Gardaí, Gorey Family Resource Centre, the local Community Alert groups, Gorey Unemployment Centre, and St. Columba's Old Folks Club.
The 239 guests from Gorey and surrounding areas were greeted by the Tara Hill singers and Santa, and they then sat down to a delicious meal, followed by music and lots of dancing to Dinny and Paddy Davitt.
A huge thank you was sent to all who supported the various fundraisers which were organised during the year to allow the event go ahead.
Thanks also went to the local businesses that donated spot prizes; MC Denis Howell, the musicians, singers, Cllr. Robert Ireton, and the staff and management of The Amber Springs Hotel.
'People danced the night away,' said a spokesperson for the organising committee.
'They were line dancing, set dancing, and they loved it. There was a real feel-good atmosphere. We're already looking forward to next year.'
