A group of very brave athletes braved very inclement conditions in Enniscorthy to raise money for St Patrick's Special School.

The 5k fun run took place at Enniscorthy sports hub running track and was very well supported.

The high regard in which the school is held was highlighted by the fact that despite atrocious weather around 200 people registered to take part in the run which, as this newspaper went to press, had raised €3,700 for the school.

The Principal, Lee Rogers, said it was a great success in spite of the rain and cold and he thanked everyone who supported it either by participating or through sponsorship.

The money raised will go towards the hydro-therapy pool which will be installed in the new state-of-the-art school that is currently under construction.

Fundraising for the hydro-therapy pool has been ongoing for the last five years.
