There were great scenes of celebration in the Riverside Park Hotel recently when Enniscorthy Rugby Club held its annual dinner dance and awards night.

The club members had great reason to celebrate this year, having won their way through to the senior ranks of the All-Ireland league.

At the dinner dance, medals were presented to the members of that squad and other awards were also handed out.

The first player of the year award went to Killian Lett and the second player of the year accolade was bestowed on Allan Jacob. The young player of the year was Stephen Hadley and the award for the most improved player of the year was presented to Billy Wickham.

A presentation was made to the captain of the team that won the Towns Cup competition in 1989, John Bolger.

Mr Bolger was also one of the guest speakers at the event.

That victorious team will also be celebrated at a special club event later in the year.

The club president Andrew Owen spoke on the night and club coach Kieran Hurrell also addressed the attendees.

George Copeland, who was an important member of the 1963 Cup winning side, was among the other guest speakers.

After the formalities, those in attendance were entertained with music courtesy of Ain't Misbehavin', followed by a DJ.

The club is looking forward to even more success this year.
