Progress being made on council houses
Work is continuing on eight new council houses which are under construction at Cherry Orchard in Enniscorthy. At the most recent meeting of Enniscorthy Municipal District Council, housing officer Padraig O'Gorman said that good progress had been made. At this stage, the bases for the eight houses, including radon barriers, are in and block-work is underway on the houses and dividing walls.
Similarly, work is continuing on two special needs houses in Oylegate. In his report, Mr O'Gorman said that the roofs were now on, windows and doors had been installed and rendering was complete. He estimated that the project should be completed by May 2018.
Mr O'Gorman's report also stated that of a total of 289 properties allocated to social housing tenants from January 1 to November 30 of 2017, 61 were in the Enniscorthy District. This compares to 56 in New Ross, 77 in Gorey and 95 in Wexford.
