There was a great turnout of support for this year's St Patrick's Day parade in Bunclody.

The event seems to be getting bigger each year and this time around there was a colourful display of floats and marching groups involved much to the delight of the organisers and those who gathered in the village to watch the event.

The participants included everyone from home care cancer volunteers to sports groups and representatives of the Art Bank creative arts initiative whose extremely colourful display captured the attention of everyone.

Among the other participants who attracted attention was 'Mrs Browne' who took part in the parade on 'her' tractor.

With some parts of the country hit by very unsavoury weather on the day that wasn't the case in Bunclody where some of the people attending saw fit to indulge in ice-cream.

One of the earliest parades on the day the Bunclody event was a great success and following their participation there some of the groups travelled to other events in the county later in the day.

The overall list of winners at the event included: Floats - 'Mrs Browne's boys and Bunclody Day Care; Marching - Clonegal-Kildavin Junior GAA and ladies football club; Kilrush Brownies guides and ladybirds; Halfway House Bunclody GAA club; Shop front display - Loftus Pharmacy; Sugar & Spice and Vincent's Charity Shop.
