The members of Enniscorthy Musical Society are riding the crest of wave at the moment with glowing accolades bestowed on them during the recent AIMS (Association of Irish Musicals) choral festival in New Ross.

The society won the festival's cameo competition with its rendition of 'Raise Your Voice' and the members followed that win up by receiving two AIMS award nominations for their production of 'Sister Act'.

The nominees were Mark Redmond and Joe Murphy, in the Best Technical category, and Jennifer Byrne in the Best Comedienne category.

A spokesperson for the society told this newspaper that everyone is thrilled with the success.

'We are absolutely thrilled for the society and [the members] are so proud of the nominees and all who were involved with the production of Sister Act this year,' she said.

'They extend huge congratulations to Mark, Joe and Jennifer and wish them the very best of luck at the AIMS awards ceremony which will take pace in Killarney on June 15,' she added.
