Man in his 70s disturbs burglars in his sitting room at night
Gardaí are urging people in the Kilcarbery area to be wary of any suspicious callers to their homes following two burglaries over the weekend. One of the incidents saw a man in his seventies disturb two burglars in the sitting room of his home between 8.30 and 9.30 p.m.
It is unclear how the thieves had gained entry to the house, however, the man received a nasty shock when he discovered the men in his home on Saturday night.
A garda spokesman said that, thankfully, the man was not assaulted or hurt in any way and, rather, the thieves just took to their heels and made off with a sum of cash.
Another burglary in the area took place at some point between 7.30 a.m. on Saturday and 9 p.m. on Sunday, while the home owner was away. Again, during the course of this incident a sum of cash was taken and gardaí believed that it's a distinct possibility that both crimes are linked.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious - a vehicle in the area or callers to the door - to contact them at Enniscorthy Garda Station on 053 9242580.
