Local man arrested in CAB raid
A 58-year-old man from Enniscorthy was arrested and questioned as part of an investigation and search operation carried out by the Criminal Assets Bureau.
The search took place on Thursday in the Drumgoold area of Enniscorthy resulting in a number of vehicles and pieces of equipment being seized including two Toyota landcruisers, eight Ifor Williams trailers, a Pageant Series 6 mobile home, a Honda generator and a power washer.
The 58-year-old man, who is local, was brought to Enniscorthy Garda Station for questioning under Section 13 of the CAB Act 1996 on suspicion of intimidating a CAB Revenue Bureau officer.
Inspector Syl Hipwell told this newspaper the man was detained for five hours and was then released without charge pending a file for the DPP.
The man is suspected of having accumulated significant wealth conducting fraudulant activity on people in their homes.
Thursdays search was carried out in conjunction with Wexford Revenue Customs Division, the South East Regional Armed Support Unit, and Enniscorthy based detectives.
