Laurence honoured for 38 years of service
A total of 38 years of outstanding service to the Blackstairs Group Water Scheme was marked with a special presentation to Laurence Sheahan of Gurrawn, Rathnure.
The scheme, said to be one of the biggest of its kind in Leinster, sources water from the springs in the hills and is then treated at a plant in Rathnure, before flowing down hill and servicing the homes of members. It has been in operation for well over forty years and for 38 of those years, Laurence has acted as Treasurer.
Members of the scheme gathered at Conran's in Rathnure recently to show their appreciation and Chairman Mr Pat Sinnott thanked Laurence for his 'many years of excellent and diligent work'.
The presentation was a complete surprise and Laurence was really taken aback as he was presented with a beautiful plaque to thank him for his many years of service. Also in attendance on the night were Laurence's wife Breda, his daughter Stephanie, committee members and friends and a great night was had by all.
