An Enniscorthy teenager has won a scholarship to Maynooth University on the strength of his leaving certificate results.

Jordan Rossiter, who is a former student of St Peter's College, in Wexford, is currently studying science at the prestigious university.

He received his entrance award scholarship at a ceremony in Maynooth last week.

The university's annual entrance scholarship ceremony recognises the academic achievements of some of its First Year students in their leaving certificate exams, as well as scholarships for the Bachelor of Music and Equine Business degrees.

Around 50 students who began their studies at Maynooth in 2019 were awarded €1,000 for achieving 550 points or more in their leaving certificate exams.

During the ceremony eight students studying the Froebel Bachelor in Education degree were also recognised for their leaving certificate achievements.
