Internet safety talk in library
Enniscorthy library will play host to an internet safety event on Thursday, June 6, at 7 p.m., and a similar event will also take place in Bunclody library on Thursday, June 13, at 7pm.
The guest speaker at both events will be Sharon Hayden from the National Parents' Council.
The seminars will be aimed at parents and guardians who are worried about what their children might be accessing on the internet.
A spokesperson for Enniscorthy library said the seminar will look at how children use the internet.
'Parents will be introduced to strategies to help their children be responsible, effective and safer internet users,' he said
Part of the session will focus attention on cyber-bullying.
It's important that parents have open, positive communication with their children especially in relation to their 'internet lives'.
However, children and adults are sometimes not fully aware of the many different potential dangers that they may come across while online.
'Setting rules and boundaries around children's usage is an important aspect of keeping them safe online,' said the spokesperson.
'The programme will also show parents how to disable or enable safety mode on their computers.'
