The organisers of a recent fundraising quiz in the IFA centre in Enniscorthy were delighted with the response from the general public.

Enniscorthy Choral Society celebrated its 25th anniversary in November and this month's quiz was organised to raise money for the organisation which has a busy year ahead.

Speaking to this newspaper one of the society members, Judy Pomeroy, said it was a very successful night.

'We had great fun and there were 16 tables booked,' she said.

The society rehearses in space provided free by Colaiste Bríde and while it receives a small amount of funding from the County Council it relies on fundraising events like the quiz to keep going.

That's why everyone involved in organising the quiz was very appreciative of the support it received.

'We had lots of sponsors of prizes,' said Judy.

'We received great support from local businesses and Zurich insurance was our big sponsor this year,' she added.

The event was closely contested but in the end the competition was won by a team composed of: Davy Donohue, Willie Brennan, Diarmuid Kinsella and Michael Murphy.

Significantly, and in a great gesture the team returned the prize-winning money to the society which was very much appreciated by all concerned.
