Some of the finest vintage and classic cars from around the country are set to descend on Enniscorthy once again this Sunday as the annual Gerard Murphy Memorial run sets off once again from The Old Dublin Road. In recent years, the event has grown into one of the biggest of its kind in the country and sees hundreds of car enthusiasts travel from all over Ireland to take part on the day.

Between five and six hundred glistening cars are expected once again this year in what is the event's eight year. As well as being a great day out for motor enthusiasts, the event provides a great chance for people to get together and talk in what is an extremely fitting tribute to car-mad Gerard who died by suicide in 2011. Over the years a wonderful scene has developed around the event and some great friendships have evolved among car enthusiasts from all over the country who gather annually in the Co Wexford sunshine for the event.

Registration for the run takes place from 11 a.m. on the morning and as well as having some remarkable cars on display, there will be all the usual entertainment including trade stands, live music, children's entertainment and much more. Once again the chosen charities to benefit from the mammoth event this year are Slaney Search & Rescue and The Local Hub in Glenbrohane, Co Limerick.

A major highlight of the run is always the Super Draw and up for grabs this year are a MK2 Escort 1600 Sport, a '92 Toyota Celica Soft Top and a number of One 4 All vouchers ranging in value from €400 to €100. The draw will take place at 4.30 p.m. on the day and tickets are still on sale. The cost of entry for the run is €20 and this includes a food voucher and drivers pack.
