Wexford Hospice Homecare (WHH) has been presented with a cheque from an Enniscorthy family who held a benefit night for the organisation.

The cheque, for €1,729, was presented by the Dreelan family to Maria Condon, from WHH, at a handover ceremony in Doreen's Bar, Slaney Street, Enniscorthy.

The picture provided the venue for the benefit night a few months ago.

Speaking to this newspaper about the fundraiser Tom Dreelan said money was also raised following the passing of his mother earlier this year through donations made around that time.

'My mother passed away in January and there were donations received at the time of her wake and then we held a benefit night as well in Doreen's Bar,' said Mr Dreelan.

There were a lot of door prizes sponsored that night and the family is very appreciative of the support they received from the local community.

Family members presented the cheque to Ms Condon who thanked them and the community for their generosity.
