Fault sees steam train trip cancelled

Passengers to Enniscorthy due to take a trip on The Slaney steam train were disappointed when the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland (RPSI) had to cancel the journey over the weekend.

'Due to signalling fault which had closed the line from Connolly to Dalkey, the local trip from Enniscorthy The Strand to the Rockin' Food festival had to be cancelled,' a spokesperson for the society said.

'This was due to a signalling fault which was outside the control of the RPSI,' the spokesperson added

'We are sorry for the inconvenience this caused to our passengers.'

In July, passengers were left at a standstill in Gorey when the Sea Breeze service was called off, following what organisers described as 'steaming issues'.
