The emergency services tended to an incident in Enniscorthy on Thursday afternoon after a man fell down steps leading to the river Slaney.

The man ended up on the ground close to the river's edge.

A spokesperson for the gardai told this newspaper the incident occurred at around 4 p.m. on Thursday.

'We got a call that a man was injured, at the side of the river and gardai attended the scene,' said the spokesperson.

'The ambulance also arrived and removed the man from the scene,' said the garda.

The man's injuries are not believed to be serious.
