Drama group on form with two one-hour hits
Enniscorthy Drama Group staged two very successful one-hour comedies in the Presentation Centre.
The group has enjoyed a very productive run in recent weeks when it staged a 'plays in a pub' theatre with 'Well, Anything Quare'.
However, the productions in the Presentation Centre were written by Scottish playwright Bruce Adam and included 'When I Snap My Fingers' and 'Mary, Mary'.
The three-night run attracted large numbers of people who saw the group perform the hilarious works.
The shows included well known veteran cast members in addition to newcomers to Enniscorthy Drama Group and some of those involved were making their stage debuts.
The opening night of saw members of the Texas Shakespearean Theatre Company, under managing director, John Dodd, in attendance.
The group members were staying in Ravenswood House, Bunclody, and despite being part of the professional theatre circuit in Texas they were very impressed by the professionalism of the amateur performers here in Enniscorthy.
Following the production the group met with Mr Dodd and discussed the possibility of establishing links between the Texas company and the local drama group here.
A spokesperson for the group told this newspaper that the discussions were centred around the idea of workshop style collaborations.
The performances were very well received by the audience and director, Tom Reddy, also came in for particular praise from theatre goers.
