Wexford County Council headquarters threw out the red carpet for a group of Enniscorthy Vocational College students who might just have a career in local government ahead of them. Elsa Tsang, Whitney O'Sullivan and Chloe Giltrap-Denton all received an A grade in their 2017 Junior Cert CSPE exam and as a reward, they were brought to check out council HQ by their class tutor Mrs Kelly and deputy principal Ms Kennedy.

The group were welcomed by county secretary Pat Collins who gave them a guided tour of the buildings, finishing up in the canteen where they enjoyed some lunch. After lunch, they were brought into the council chambers and got to witness a council meeting in progress. They met with former principal of Enniscorthy Vocational College Cllr Tony Dempsey, as well as Cllr Barbara Anne Murphy who is on the school's board of management. Council chairman Cllr John Hegarty, a teacher himself, welcomed the group into the chambers and congratulated them on their excellent results. Among the topics discussed at the meeting were electoral polling stations, data protection and housing and it gave the students a wonderful insight into how local politics works.
