Local fire-fighters and gardaí are feeling the calm before the storm this week before they go head to head in the ring this Sunday night for the second Blue Light Fight Night.

Quite a bit of training has been going on behind the scenes in recent weeks as either side aims to emerge victorious after a total of 13 bouts. Last time out the fire-fighters managed to emerge victorious and the gardaí are hoping to capture a bit of revenge this time out.

There has been great interest in the event, which takes place in Enniscorthy's Riverside Park Hotel from 7 p.m. on Sunday, and tickets are said to be selling like hot cakes. The organisers have also had great support from local businesses and they were delighted to announce that Enniscorthy Credit Union had come on board as official sponsors of the event last week.

All money raised from the event will go directly towards St Patrick's Special School who are hoping to purchase a hydrotherapy pool, which would be a massive help to students there. All support for the event is greatly appreciated and both the gardaí and fire-fighters are hoping to put on a great show. A limited amount of tickets are still available and will be on sale at the Fire Station tonight (Tuesday) from 8 p.m., from St Patrick's Special School and from participants taking part on the night.
