Irresponsible discarding of face masks, gloves and other forms of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) around Enniscorthy is a cause of concern for one member of the local authority.
Cllr John O'Rourke expressed concern at a recent meeting over the matter and said it's a problem coming to light more often as bins are being emptied around the town.
He there is a problem 'in-and-around' bins with regard to items like face masks and gloves being thrown on the ground.
'There seems to be a huge collection of face masks being dumped around the town, around bins,' he said. He asked officials what is being done to address the problem as it's a health and safety issue.
In response, Senior Executive Engineer, Tadhg O'Corcora, said there had been 'one or two issues' but they had been cleaned up. Mr O'Corcora said if there are issues in specific areas they will be checked out.
