Card game enthusiasts from throughout the Enniscorthy area showcased their caring nature recently when a cheque for €3,502 was presented to Wexford Hospice homecare.

The money was raised through a bridge event in Enniscorthy organised by Boro Bridge Club, however, a number of different clubs from the town along with clubs from Bunclody and Ferns also supported the event.

The President of the Boro Bridge Club, Sheelagh O'Leary, said her organisation's members provided refreshments for everyone when the formal aspect of the competition ended.

The club was delighted with the success of the event and gratitude was expressed to all the bridge players who participated.

The cheque for €3,502 was presented to Eamon Mernagh and Mary O'Shea, representing Wexford Hospice homecare, in the Riverside Park Hotel.

They thanked everyone for their generosity and said the money will be put to very good use in helping the organisation to continue to provide its invaluable service to the people of the county.
