Ballyhogue National School opened its doors to the public on Thursday and the event was a great success.

Visitors to the school got to view excellent facilities it offers its pupils and the fact it's a relatively small school benefits the pupils who had a lot of their curricular and extra-curricular work was on show.

Members of staff were on hand to welcome visitors including Principal, James Roberts.

'It was a very positive night and we got very good feedback from parents,' said a school spokesperson.

The staff members were happy to answer any questions parents or guardians had and the visitors got to walk around the school to view it first-hand.

The school has an excellent reputation for the quality of teaching it provides its pupils and there is also a strong emphasis on creativity in Ballyhogue that was underlined on the night.

The pupils got the opportunity to highlight some of the extra-curricular activities they participate in including various sports programmes and healthy living initiatives. Refreshments were provided by the parents' association.
