Businesses in the Abbey Centre were once again left counting the cost this week after thieves broke into the shopping mall for the second time in less than a week.

On March 18, damage was caused to doors and windows as The Abbey Restaurant, The Kiosk Shop and EuroGiant were all broken into. At The Kiosk, a cash register was ripped from the wall and thrown on the ground, while a window was also smashed.

The most recent incident took place at some time around midnight on Saturday and saw a window pane smashed and a tip jar containing approximately €5 taken from the Abbey Restaurant. Damage was also caused at The Kiosk Shop yet again and thieves are said to have made off with a quantity of cigarettes and some other items.

Business owners were devastated to find that they had been the victims of yet another break-in and gardaí are carrying out a full investigation into the matter. Anyone who may have seen anything suspicious is asked to contact Enniscorthy Garda Station on 053 9242580.
